We just entered a large group of 66 registrations as one transaction.

After completing the data entry, we went to the list of registrations and it shows the last entry as (56/67). (Not sure why it says 67 instead of 66.)

Looking at the Transaction (#9153) to try to get the total for our client, it shows NO transaction details, a total of $0, and in the Attendees Registered section, it says “For some reason, there are no attendees registered for this transaction. Likely the registration was abandoned in process.”

If you view an individual registration, it says Approved. And if you click the “Scroll to Other Registrations in the Same Transaction” link, it shows:
66 total registrations
55 are green and show the Price ($650)
11 are gray and have $0 for the Price

Can you help explain what has happened here, and how we can recover the lost data, or resume entering the registration details for the remaining 11? We need to get all names entered and get the transaction total for the client.

Thank you!

Hi there,

We just entered a large group of 66 registrations as one transaction.

This may sound like a strange question, but how did you do this?

Through the admin or front end?

How long did it take to complete the form?

After completing the data entry, we went to the list of registrations and it shows the last entry as (56/67). (Not sure why it says 67 instead of 66.)

Hmm, thats… odd! Can you add a screenshot?

(Note you can set your reply to private so only EE staff can view it)

Looking at the Transaction (#9153) to try to get the total for our client, it shows NO transaction details, a total of $0, and in the Attendees Registered section, it says “For some reason, there are no attendees registered for this transaction. Likely the registration was abandoned in process.”

Hmm, ok, that basically all sounds wrong. Transaction details should not be empty and there is no reason for the attendees not to be listed.

If you view an individual registration, it says Approved. And if you click the “Scroll to Other Registrations in the Same Transaction” link, it shows:
66 total registrations
55 are green and show the Price ($650)
11 are gray and have $0 for the Price

Grey registrations are cancelled, I assume you didn’t cancel them, right?

How long did it take to provide all of the details on the form?

Can you help explain what has happened here, and how we can recover the lost data, or resume entering the registration details for the remaining 11? We need to get all names entered and get the transaction total for the client.

A lot of what you have posted is unexpected behaviour, so I don’t think there is a ‘resume’ option for this, something has gone wrong somewhere here and trying to patch it up may cause more issues.

Can I take a look at the registrations? If so you can send temp login details using this form:

This was completed through the back end. It took a very long time, so we really want to rescue this group of registrations if at all possible.

One correction, the admin said that she submitted a total of 56 registrations (45 “virtual” and 11 in-person ticket types). So I’m not sure why it’s showing 67.

I will submit login credentials so you can log in and see for yourself. The registrations are dated 2/8 (the only group of 67, LOL…). Please let me know what you find.

Thanks for your help.

Ok, so I think there are multiple factors that could have caused the issue here.

The length of time it would take to enter in 56 registrations each with individual registration questions is likely more than the default session time (default is 1 hour), submitting the form after the session can have some weird effects. On the front end it would error out but in the admin it may still attempt to add the registrations.

Initially, I thought it may have been an issue with you hitting max_input_vars which is usually set at 1000:

56 x 15 questions (just a rough number of questions based on what I can see in the registration) = 840 inputs + all of the additional inputs on the page would mean you exceed that and halfway through the registrations, EE loses its data because the server ignores the remaining inputs (which actually fits well with the issue you have). However, it looks like your max_input_vars value has been updated to 10k, was that before this happened?

As the registration data wasn’t shown on each individual registration that data wouldn’t have been saved and will need to be re-entered.

I’ve opened a discussion with our developers to see if they have any feedback on this, its an odd issue for sure.

max_input_vars would have been increased long ago, and we had increased our session time to 2 hours — it is believed that the data entry took less than 2 hours.

We’ll go ahead and re-enter the registrations. Would it be helpful to leave the old ones in there, as you continue to investigate? Otherwise, we’ll delete them so that our attendance records are valid. Please let me know.

Thanks for your help.

Another option for this would be to use the attendee importer:

https://eventespresso.com/product/eea-importer/

That add-on allows you to create a CSV of registrations + answers and then map those to your registration questions set on the event.

It then loops through and batch processes the registrations.

However, the big difference between that and what you are currently doing is it wouldn’t be considered a group registration, each registration would be separate.

max_input_vars would have been increased long ago, and we had increased our session time to 2 hours — it is believed that the data entry took less than 2 hours.

I can’t think of any other reasons for this to happen but I’ll see what the developers come back up.

I don’t think we’ll need them as they won’t give us any useful information other than X, Y or Z is missing but if you could create a database backup first we could always check the data within the backup if needed.
