We are trying to set up a registration for a conference with multiple sessions. We know that this issue has been discussed before in this forum what was very helpful.
We decided to have one congress event with pricing options and several free events for the sessions during the conference. In the description of the “conference event” we included an html table that reflects the conference programme and lets registrants add their “session events” in the shopping card via event shortcodes. Since there are no relations between events it is a workaround, but it is ok for our setting. Nonetheless there are some open questions for us to design the registration process for attendees as comfortable as possible.
Is there any possibility to avoid that registrants can select events that are scheduled at the same time during the registration process? (I dont know if this maybe can be realized with event-categories?)
If an event is fully booked (eg. 0 free spaces out of 20) the shortcode-link still says “add to shopping card”. Is there an opportunity to hide this link in case of fully booked events? Otherwise the message that an event is already overbooked comes very late in the registration process. This can be very frustrating for attendees: Imagine you go online shopping, add a pullover to your shopping card and only at checkout it says “unforunately not available anymore”.
We do not allow group registrations – so only one participant register him/herself at a time. Although there is always one participant registering the number of participants is shown as “0” instead of “1” in the shopping card and the registrant has to change this manually to “1” for each event. Is there any possibility to set this as standard to “1” for events without multiple pricing options and in case of deactivated group registration? I compare this to a shopping card in an online shop: It is unusual for the customer to set the number of selected items to “1” manually – so this can be very confusing when registering for many events at the same time.
Is it possible not to show selected events in the shopping card and payment-page at all? The idea would be to hide all free events. If not is it at least possible to influence the order of events in the shopping card that the “conference event” is on top?
Using the multiple event registration the registrant personal data is for all events always the same. Nonetheless it has to be copied manually in the forms for all events with this button. For our opinion this is very irritating for customers because it is just unusual and very unfomfortable. Is there a way to auto-fill this without this “button-click” solution? Or even better to hide all forms for the free “session events” and only show the priced main event adress fields and use the registrant data for all other events automatically in the background?
Last but not least? The German translation is using the “Sie” grammar which is very formal language style in german. Is there an alternative repository using the “Du”-style? If not please let me know how I can change the wording permanently (Update safe). Furthermore there are some errors in the provided translation that need to be fixed: x “Map and directions”-Link in Event desciption is not translated into german x “Price type:”, “Personal Information”, “Adress Information” and all adress field descriptions in the adress page are not translated into german x If “Show registration form” is activated in an event the order button description below the event is “kostenpflichtig bestellen” what means “order with costs” even if all events are free. Button description should be more neutral “Verbindlich buchen” that means book bindigly and is correct for both free and priced events. Current description is just wrong for free events.

Not easily no, I would say it would have to be a customizationa nd Im not even sure if it is possible with the current way the plugin is set up.

Yes, I had to do this recently for someone else, and it will require a code edit. It really depends on your set up, but the basic answer would be to add an if check for the attendee count for the event and if count is full show a Full message rather than the register link.

Currently no. We set it to the drop down system in order to resolve an issue for many people in that users were moving on in the registration process without selecting the attendee numbers. You could modify the templates to make this work though.

I am not quite sure what you mean. The user adds the events to the shopping cart so why would you want to hide them?

We understand that this isnt the best solution but currently the system will create a user per event, so if Bob (fake registrant) signs up to 5 events, he will appear 5 times in the database. As such Bob needs to fill out the forms, as we cannot be sure the tickets are all for Bob and that he isnt buying for others. You could possibly do somehting with jquery to fill out the forms as the user types maybe.
Version 4.0 uses a similar system, with a tickbox/checkbox so I dont think it is something we are moving away from just yet.

We rely on help from native speakers to do translations. You can download the files from here https://github.com/eventespresso/languages and edit them as needed using a program such as Poedit. If you are interested in helping us improve the German language files you can sign up here https://eventespresso.com/features/languages/#form. I would however ask that you mention that you would be keen to provide a non-formal translation as I would suspect it would be best to separate this from the default German translation. I know for instance, if the Finnish translation used spoken terms (informal) instead of written, it would upset some users and I feel it would be the same with German, some would want the formal version and some like yourself the informal version.
The German translation currently stands at 93% complete so yes there are some untranslated strings.
I hope this helps with your questions but feel free to ask further or for further clarification.
