Questions get lost on multi event registrations

When users register for events on our website (multiple events) none of the questions except for “Personal Information” are available to us in the backend.  After digging in the database it appears that the answers to all the other question groups are not even being stored.  This is causing major headaches for our event.

Each event does have different question groups.

When I went to update to the latest plugins the situation got worse because after users added multiple events and completed the attendee information, only one event shows up on the payment overview page.

After more testing on the newest plugins, only the first event that you add to your cart makes it all the way to the payment page.

I have disabled all non event espresso plugins.  Am running the stock Twenty Twelve theme, and have disabled all but invoice payments and this problem is still happening.  Looks like we’re going to have to switch to good ol’ fashioned paper registration forms.

Hi Aaron,

Sorry for any trouble you are having. Which site is this issue on? The one listed against your account (fibark) seems to be running Event espresso 3.1.29.1, which is 6 months old now and numerous bug fixes and feature enhancements have been added since then.

If for some reason you reverted back, when you updated, did you have any files in the wp-content/uploads/espresso/templates folder? If you did/do then it is 99% likely that they caused issues as old template files dont mix well with new code, so it is a good idea to temporarily rename that folder to make sure the plugin defaults are functioning. Then of course start to move over any modifications if you did any.

No I didn’t test any updates on the live site (thankfully).  I have a copy of the site running locally that I used to test the updates.  The newer versions of the plugins are definitely worse than the ones we are currently running because with them users of the site are unable to checkout with all the items in their cart – only the one they added first appears on the final payment overview page.

I have prepared a test environment that is a completely fresh wordpress (3.5.1) install with the latest event espresso and multiple events plugins.  I have setup a copy at http://eventespresso.fibark.net/ : wp-admin username is adminfib and password is the same.

To recreate issue of missing question responses:

1) Go to http://eventespresso.fibark.net/?page_id=4

2) Click the add to cart button for event one

3) Click the add to cart button for event two

4) Click the view cart button for event two

5) Select 1 general admission for each event

6) Enter personal information (and copy it to all)

7) Answer the “Why is the sky blue” question

8) Click to confirm

9) In the backend view the attendees.  The sky is blue question is nowhere to be found.  An entry for it is not in the database (wp_events_answer) either.

Because of this issue we are having to ask all our competitors to re-fill out paper registrations forms when they come to get their bibs.  This is quite embarassing for myself and the other technology sponsor of our event.

The other issue where events don’t make it to the final payment overview page appears to only happen on php 5.3 – I will work to get bug steps to you on that as well.  Since our production site is on php 5.2 I went ahead and upgraded it, but we are obviously still seeing the problem I added steps for in my last post.

Hi Aaron,

Thanks for that, I have confirmed the issue on your site and my own, and have raised an urgent ticket for it with the developers as the data is for some reason not being stored anywhere (that I can see).

Regarding the other issue, if you can start a new forum thread for that, that would be appreciated, helps keep the two issues and resolutions separate.
