I am looking at using your plugin for a client website as it looks pretty impressive. I have some questions which will help make my decision quicker, if you can answer them :

Here are the requirements. I wanted to know if these are all possible

1) Client will have a membership based events site. Non-members will be able to see all the static pages, and all the events pages without the full location and ability to buy tickets (so this part of the page will be hidden). I know that the membership will be controlled seperately, but if Espresso flexible enough to allow a membership plugin such as Wishlist Members, hide some of the details it generates?

2) Events will be displayed by area (e.g. state) AND type of event so user has two ways of getting there). In fact, there will be a seperate page for each state. On each of those pages, the events will be listed in chronological order, with the user being able to filter by type of event. Also if possible, the user should still be able to change the state via the filter (so the filter has both variables, but by default it will display the state that the user has selected from the menu. Does Event Espesso have some search/filter in place that can do this, or is there a plugin that can be used to do this?

If there are no events in a particular state, a standard form will display, which can be used to capture the uers details if they will to send it.

3) You mentioned integration with MailChimp. Once a user registers for an event, will that detail then be passed over to mailchimp?

4) Does EE send out an automated reminder about the event to the attendees?

5) Can admin email all attendees at once manually. e.g. if event changes dates? (is this through mailchimp or EE?)

6) What happens if event is cancelled – can we offer user the chance to use the credit for the next event, or offer them a refund through EE?

7) Are there any known problems with the following plugins: Yaost SEO, Wordfence, Super Cache, Wishlist Member)

8) Can we set up early bird pricing for events?

9) CAn we have men and women tickets separate (to limit tickets for each), and display no. of men and women who have bought tickets? What about other fields such as age range etc?

10) Events calendar – can we display a separate events calendar for each state?

11) Is there a possilibty to do some sort of search based on location e.g. by typing a postcode, all events (and distance from postcode) appear based on the proximity (nearest at the top)

Hi Tony,

How are you today? I’ll try to answer your questions.

  1. Our WP Users Integration (https://eventespresso.com/product/espresso-members/) add-on can require that people be registered for your website before they can register for an event. Other than that you can use restrictions on the event pages/templates to require certain levels of membership to access the registration form. That would take some custom setup, but I think it’s possible.
  2. You categorize events and then use a shortcode to only display events from a certain category on a page. We don’t have any advanced filters, so the events will have to be on separate pages. You can add a contact form to the bottom of the category/state page to collect marketing information if you want.
  3. Yes, when someone registers they are added to your MailChimp list.
  4. Not yet, that’s planned for later versions.
  5. Yes, you can email attendees manually through Event Espresso.
  6. That is not managed through Event Espresso. You have to handle refunds through your payment gateway.
  7. https://eventespresso.com/wiki/known-third-party-plugin-theme-conflicts/
  8. Yes.
  9. If you want to limit the number of tickets that can be available by type of ticket, they will need to be separate events. This is something that will change with Event Espresso 3.2.
  10. You can display an event by category.
  11. See #2

Let us know if you need any other information.

Thats very helpful!

Regarding the search/filter queries I had – can I use another plugin to carry out that function e.g. http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/wordpress-filter/? I guess this depends on whether events are really a post type or not right?

In fact, this would be ideal: http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/wp-find-your-nearest/ . Will this type of plugin be compatible with Event Espresso events?

Cheers!

Event Espresso doesn’t use custom post types, but you can create a post when you create an event and assign it to a category.

I doubt it would be compatible, other than using the Create a Post function when you create an event.

Just a couple more questions:

When are they launching the 3.2 version, so we can implement the male/ female functionality?

Reports- is it possible to export other info about attendees e.g. Their location/ county and things like more popular events identified through number of attendees- at a glance report feature?

Many thanks

Hi Tony,

We don’t have a date for the 3.2 release at this time.

There is a feature in Event Espresso that will generate a report that can be opened in a spreadsheet option like excel. It includes any info entered into the registration form for each entry.
