Hello guys, so I’m trying to understand the thought process behind having a smooth experience with having our users have less steps to get the info needed to get their ticket info or barcode in their email. I think it’s taking steps backward when people have to “allow” images from sender each time they get a confirmation email with barcode. There has to be a better way to making this work smoothly. There should be no extra steps for people receiving printable confirmation email with barcode, otherwise what’s the point? Also the issue with “show images” affects the download link provided in the confirmation email. Even if the barcode doesn’t show in the confirmation email, I should still be able to click the download link with out doing any extra steps to get my ticket.. I could use some feedback on this. Thanks! -Luis |

Hello Luis, There is no way to generate QR codes on the fly (which is needed) and not have them as an image. If a user trusts your site then they will enable images. I cannot replicate the download/print ticket link issue, mine comes up with the images missing but the link functions fine as it is not an image. Can you expand on your issue please? |
Hi Dean, I understand, however, in terms of our install, the download link does not work unless the user has selected to show images in the email.. Which I would think that shouldn’t affect my ability to view a web page with the ticket, but for some reason, that is the case.. Does it matter if both the qr code and download link is in the confirm email? Or does it have to be one or the other? |
Hi Luis, No it makes no difference if both are in the same email. I tried to register to one of your events but it didn’t send an email (probably because I didnt pay). Have you modified the email in anyway to change the download link to an image? IF you can provide login details I can look at the email setup directly. If so, please send them via https://eventespresso.com/contact/ Choose the “I am sending login info as requested” option and fill out the form NOTE: login details need to be Admin level. |
I did see the registration.. We have it set to not to send confirmation until payment is received, until I find our what’s causing this issue. I sent the info.. |

Hello Luis, I logged into your site and had a look at the emails and setup. Nothing is wrong here. I received a test email from the site and the links work perfectly. The only issue I can see is as discussed above with the images not showing automatically, but there is nothing we can do about that. |

Hey Dean, trying to verify your findings but realized that the contents of our confirmation email is gone.. Did you happen to delete on accident? Do you have a copy of what was in there. I can reconstruct it, but just curious why it’s not there anymore. Thanks, -Luis |
In any event i’m reconstructing the email.. This what I’m finding, when I’m viewing the email on my phone the QR Code is broken and the download link load our home page. I’ viewing the same email that is on my gmail and the links and code work, just not on the phone. This is the issue. How can we get it to work on the phone? |
Hi Dean so, this is what I’m finding, when emailing to an email address with our website domain, the download links and qr code are broken. Example .. when I input my email address for the confirmation myemail@groovetemple.tv .. the links don’t work in the confirmation email on my phone.. they work in my gmail desktop client, just not on the phone. Thoughts? |
Hi Luis First of all, no I didn’t touch the emails at all, merely looked at them, though I did change the setting to allow me to receive an email without paying and reverted it back. I forwarded a copy of the email to my HTC Desire and it displayed the link fine in both the generic mail client and the gmail app I have. The QR code is of course different as it will depend on the email client as to whether the images are viewable or not and as mentioned that is out of our control. Have you tested the link on other phones? Other mobile email clients? I simply cannot recreate what you are saying is occurring. |

Hi Dean, what it looks like to me is when saving on that page and having the editor set to visual, it blanks out the content in the editor.. When saving with editor set to HTML it retains the info. Not sure if this is a bug or not. As far as the links on the mobiles, I’v isolated the issue to emails being sent within our domain. Meaning, if receiving confirmations from @gmail, @me ect ect, it seems to function properly as expected. However, when sending to emails to @groovetemple.tv then the issue is apparent. I’m not sure if there is some weird spam filter, we route all of our mail through google. Google might be marking this as spam because of the email headers? I’ve tested on other iPhones and confirmed this. Again, when sending to other addresses such as @gmail or @me ect seems fine, just sending to emails within our own domain is where it breaks. It’s not detrimental since our users won’t have emails with @groovetemple.tv .. But makes difficult to test things. |
Hi Luis,
That could be a plugin conflict. Which page are you saving? I can test it out on a test install if I know which page you’re referring to. |
