Question Duplication and Ordering Disaster

We recently upgraded to the developer license so got access to roles and permissions pro. I mention this because I’m guessing this is where my problem came from.

We have an office setup where everyone that created events shared questions and were able to use others questions in their question group.

Now Everyone with access to event espresso has their own personal questions duplicated in their name and cannot access others questions. This is going to be a nightmare for me when others go to create new events.

But on to my current nightmare. Now when one of my co-workers tries to reorganize her questions it the order doesn’t stick. She moves them around and then leaves to her question group sometimes they are right when she gets there and sometimes they are not. But ultimately they always get blown to pieces and ridiculous things like first name and last name get thrown to the bottom completely out of order. It really frustrating.

Any help tracking down this problem is really appreciated.

Upon rereading this I meant to say the generic personal questions have all been duplicated.

I’m having trouble reproducing the problem. Maybe you can help narrow down where the problem is coming from. When you rearrange the questions using the drag and drop, can you then go into each question and check if the “Order/Sequence” field has been updated correctly? It should be either the order field is not updating correctly, or the order field is not being read correctly by the question group page.

I’m having trouble reproducing it at the moment as well. That’s kind of one of the frustrating parts about it. It works and then all of a sudden out of no where they are all out of order and in an extremely odd sequence.

I will try and catch it when it does it again to see if the order/sequence is updating. I will say that when it was doing it before I tried updating the order/sequence number manually and it didn’t take effect that time.

Can you shed any light on what happened with all the question duplicating? Is that expected behavior for Roles and Permissions pro.

Thanks,
Chris

Ok so it blew up again. Everything is in a weird order seemingly out of the blue. We browsed around a couple different events and noticed that an event had some questions out of order so we went back in and looked at the questions. Sure enough they all were in a super weird order. Upon clicking on a question it’s order sequence was still correct. eg. the 25th item down the page is supposed to be the first and it’s order/sequence is 1 however it’s way down there and in the wrong order.

Yes, since with R&P pro questions are not shared, each user needs their own set of questions. The questions page should load with “My Questions” open by default, so most of the time an admin should only see their own set of questions.

Thanks for the clarification. Did you have any thoughts on the Order/Sequence problem now that I’ve replicated it again?

Thanks,
Chris

Can you take a look at the other questions that were put before the one with order 1? I wonder if all of the orders were reset to 1 somehow.

I should have mentioned. I did check that and they were all the right order sequence number but not displaying in the proper order. But I went back to double check today and all questions are in the proper order again. It’s freaking me out man.

I wonder if it is something with the drag-and-drop javascript. The next time you see it, can you turn javascript off and reload the page and see if they load in the right order?
