I have a basic question about how EE4 Promotions works. If we create a unique code to go along with a set dollar amount, what happens when someone purchases a ticket that is under the promotion code dollar amount?
For example, let’s say a customer purchases a $200 “gift certificate” and we then go in and create a unique promotion code for them worth $200. Next the customer buys a ticket to a $15 event, and uses their $200 promotion code. Will the customer now have a remainder balance of $185 when they use that same unique code, that can be applied to future events?
Thanks for helping us sort this out. We are trying to determine if the promotions add-on will work for managing gift certificates purchased by customers for over the amount of the ticket price.
No, applying the code to a ticket of lesser value than the promotion code does not reduce the value of the promo code.
The promotion codes apply a discount for the value set on the discount code during the checkout. You would need a custom solution to create ‘credits’/’gift certificates’ to work how you are requesting.
Ok, thanks for the info! I appreciate the response. Do you have any suggestions for an online gift certificate solution that would work with Event Espresso tickets?
They may be able to help build a custom solution for you.
