Event Espresso v.5 issue — published event not showing on browser.

Hey guys,
Few days ago, I have update EE plugin to Version 5.0.27.p via WordPress (I believe it was from v4), from whatever reason – it will not show on browser and the message that appeared is “ You do not have the required privileges to perform this action “
I have spend so much time trying to work it out, I got my web guy that build the site ( so he knows all in’s n out’s of my site) and after checking all setting, which nothing is set to private/password protected etc and all pages working perfectly…..

As a result of reading so many support threads, to avoid backwards n forwards, I will share my issue below with as much as details as possible. (my apologies for lengthy description)

Aim: Having our guests to RSVP for the bar 14th birthday – so we know numbers for the event

Issue: Published Event on EE5 will not show online.

Event Permalink: https://zigis.com.au/events/zigis-wine-bar-14th-birthday/
Status: Publish
Visibility: Public
Registration Status: Active
Ticket: Free

Default Setting
legacy editor is used.
Default Registration Status: Pending Payment

Within “Edit Event” page – Slug is: zigis-wine-bar-14th-birthday

Templates: Single Event Pages

Display Status Banner: Yes
Display Venue Details: Yes
Use Custom Display Order? No

Events List Pages
Events List URL: https://zigis.com.au/events/
Event Slug: events
Display Status Banner: Yes

Display Description, ticket selector, datetime, venue details, expired events, customer display order, reset event list setting : No

Ticket Selector Template Settings
Show Ticket Details, Show Ticket Sale Info, Show Expired Tickets: Yes
Show Date & Time Filter: No

If I change the slug in the Event List Pages to “current-events” it will show horribly

Web guy mentioned he tried changing short-codes as well…. But no luck.

Below is my system info:
WordPress Version: 6.6.2
PHP Version: 7.4.33
MySQL Version: 8.0.36
Event Espresso Version: 5.0.27.p
WordPress Address (URL): https://zigis.com.au
Site address (URL): https://zigis.com.au

Thank you and looking to read your thoughts.

Many Thanks
Zigi

Hi Zigi,

Thank you for the in-depth details, they help narrow this down some so more details are always appreciated.

Having said that I’d like to take a quick look at this if possible? I want to add some debug code to the site to find out where the above is coming from.

If that’s ok just send temp login details over using this form:

https://eventespresso.com/send-login-details/

Note that as I need to add some code to the site the FTP details are required in this case.

Actually, if i may – last question…

as this event is mainaly for RSVP and once i tick “Additional guests” under – Question for additional registrant – within the event setting page, all additional registrants names comes as the same as the main registrant/Ticket Purchaser.

If i leave blank all in – Question for additional registrant – and tick “Additional guests” in “Question for Primary registrant” it only give “ONE TEXT FILED” even if visitor RSVP for 3 guests.

Any advise, will be super helpfull.

Cheers
Zigi

For your additional registrants, you need to collect the ‘Personal Information’ question group so that EE will create separate ‘registrants’ for them.

Right now you have an “Additional guests” question group with custom questions to collect the name, but in EE custom questions can be anything so EE will only generate registrations from the 3 system questions (First Name, Last Name (although this is not actually a required field) & Email) and those can only be assigned to the Personal Info group.

Thanks Tony, but im getting confused here…
would you kindly guide me i.e step by step how to rectify that if you don’t mind?

Cheers

pls note; i only want the main registrant to indicate his/her guests names… no emails, sir name etc.
Just for guests 1: name Johnny, Guests 2: names Julie Guests 3: name Alex etc etc .

You can’t do that and also have them as separate registrations in Event Espresso.

At a bare minimum EE requires a First Name & Email address per registrant (person).

So you can either have them all listed as the Primary Registrant name and then collect just a First Name as a custom question (meaning 4 tickets would show us a say ‘Tony Warwick’ 4 times)… or require First Name and Email to have them all as separate registrant.

fair enough…. in this particular scenario – do you think, is there any option to have a “placeholder attribute” to indicate for the user to simply add guests names follow by (,) so the bare minimum i have names of additional RSVP guests ?

Thank you for all your assistance – Much appreciated.

Sorry but I’m not sure I follow, isn’t that what you have now when only requesting the personal info on the Primary registrant and the custom question for name on the additional registrants?

I don’t want to make changes to your live event, but can I create 2 test events on the site and set them to be privately published?

I’ll show you the 2 options you have within EE on those and it should make a little more sense that way.

Can you post the fix. It shows they are marked as ‘private’. We are experiencing the same thing. Need the solution.

Specifically, this “You do not have the required privileges to perform this action” happens when using the elementor widget ‘Event Espresso Upcoming Events’. Using the shortcode doesn’t produce the same error. What’s the fix?
