Properly Pruning Database Procedure

I have a lot of former students in my database, and I want to go back and prune the database to reduce the risk of a data breach. There are a lot of years-old registrations, but we don’t have a requirement to keep them past a certain time. Is there a procedure that I can follow in order to prune everything except, say, the last 6 years?

Some registrations are “incomplete”, many are just finalized as the student came through and didn’t contact us again. We don’t need to keep their information on file forever basically.

Thanks in advance.

Hi there,

Currently, we don’t have a method to do the above, you can delete past events which will also delete the registrations linked to that event but we don’t have a way for you to do that automatically up until the X date for example.

We also can’t delete the EE_Contacts when doing the above as a single contact could be linked to multiple registrations, for example deleting the contact linked to registration ID 1 from Event A would then break the relationship for registration ID 444 (if it was linked to the same person/contact) linked to Event Y.

So you can remove the registration-related data with the above but not the contact (Name, Email, Address) with the above method.

We have functions within EE so that it is possible to ‘rest’ the EE database so that it removes all of the current EE4 data and allows you to start fresh, obviously thats not what you are looking for, but those are the 2 options we have in EE currently as far as I’m aware.

I’ll check-in the the rest of the team to see if any has any other ideas for this.
