We are using Groupon and process them manually because there are different codes for each person. What would I put in the code box (under create promotion) that would allow the discount to be applied only if they entered a code, instead of it being applied to everything as a non-code promotion?
What I want to do is allow the client to enter their code, but we don’t know what the code is because it comes from another site. So what I am trying to do is tell the plug in to accept ‘any’ code that they put in. Then have it apply the discount and we will cross check the code accuracy manually. But if I leave it blank it applies the discount to everything. So is there a string I can place in the coupon field that will keep the plug in from discounting everything, and only apply when the (random) code is entered.
No the promotions add-on doesn’t accept any code. It actually checks and makes sure the code is valid.
What you can do is capture their 3rd party code in a question/field on the registration form, and give them a discount code to use at checkout for the discount.
how do we downgrade to the ee3 version and exchange the promotion add on for the groupon add on. we are having a huge problem with this right now and need to fix this asap
The groupon addon for ee3 works the same way that ee4 promotions does. The registration form question is the solution we can offer.
