Hi,

A while ago I changed the promotion type “Dollar Discount” to “Sterling Discount” as dollars don’t make sense here. The client would prefer it to read “Fixed Discount”, but I can’t see the option to change it any more. Is it hiding?

I thought it was on Promotions->Settings but I can’t see it there or anywhere else.

Kind regards,

Anita

Hi,

You’ll go to Event Espresso > Pricing > Price Types to edit those.

Thanks Josh,

I feel like I’m being a pain, but one more question.

I have users with role of Events Administrator but they can’t see the Promotions add-on. Is that intentional?

I have used Admin Menu Editor to give access to that menu item, but then the Event Administrator cannot see Add New Promotion.

Kind regards,

Anita

Hi Anita,

The Event Administrator role does not have promotion editing capabilities by default. Those can be added by using the User Role Editor plugin.

Once that plugin is installed, you go to Users > User Role Editor, then select the Events Administrator role. Then check the boxes next to the following capabilities:

ee_delete_others_promotions
ee_delete_promotions
ee_edit_others_promotions
ee_edit_promotions
ee_read_others_promotions
ee_read_promotions

Then you’ll click the Update button

Thanks.

I noticed there are also the following capabilities: ee_delete_promotion, ee_edit_promotion and ee_read_promotion. (ie singular of promotion)

Are they legacy, or should I select those as well?

Kind regards,

Anita

Those are meta capabilities and normally you wouldn’t assign those to a role if they’re going to have access to others’ promotions. Meta capabilities can be used for more advanced usage like restricting access to promotions for specific conditions. If you want to learn more about meta capabilities in WordPress, this is a good write up:
