I created a promotional code to deduct a fixed amount and not a percentage, but when someone registers, it makes the entire event free and does not just deduct the amount I specified. |
Hi Philip, Do you have multiples of the same discount code? Like PROMO1 and promo1? |
|
|
No I don’t. They are all very unique. |
This could possibly be due to old template files in the wp-content/uploads/espresso/templates which need to be updated You could try renaming the above folder* and see if the issue is still present. There is a button to do so under Event Espresso -> Template settings. Under Developer Templates. You’ll see ‘Rename Templates Directory’. (you’ll need FTP access to change them back) *You will lose any customisations within those files while it is renamed. I can see some of the CSS has been altered in espresso_default.css, other files may also have been altered. payment_page.php, registration_page.php & registration_page_display.php are the common files which cause problems when modified. |

Hi Tony, |
Is it possible to go your login details so we can look into this? Is so please send these via https://eventespresso.com/send-login-details/ Please note, credentials need to be admin level and ftp details would be appreciated. |

Hi Tony, |
Hi Philip, The Promo code applies to each ticket. Therefore if your ticket prices are less than the promo discount, the event will become free which is what is happening here. You could change the promo to use percentages, that way it will never be more than the ticket price as long as the promo is less than 100% |

Hi Tony, |
Hi Philip, I’ve just ran some more tests on one of the events and get different results from what you are describing above. I used the promotion code with a value of $5 on a 40$ event, booked 2 tickets and the total then became 70$. Is it a specific event that is causing issues? With a specific promotion code or all?
Currently the way the promotion codes are set-up means that the promotion code is applied to ALL the tickets the user has selected. So in that example all tickets would be free.
It all depends on the kind of promotion you are running. What promotion are you trying to run? If you want to give the user a free ticket when purchasing X amount of tickets, you could use the Volume Discount Add-on. |

Thanks, Tony. I was out of town for a week. I will run some tests again as well and see if the issue is resolved at least when the amount is less than the event fee. |
|
Please keep us updated, thanks. |
Update: The Promotions add-on for Event Espresso 4 is now available. It brings the ability to set up discount codes that expire and a fixed amount discount code only applies to the order instead of each ticket. |
