Promotion use count not decreased when deleting registration

Hello – I have a promotion for the first 20 registrants at my event. While testing the setup I registered 5 times. The ‘uses’ count was appropriately increased (Uses: 5/20) on the promotion.

Now that I am ready to go live, I have deleted the test registrations (and payments), but the use count still says 5/20 on my promotion.

This seems like a bug to me, but please let me know if I am doing something wrong.

I am using EE4 Version 4.8.34.p & EE Promotions Version 1.0.5.p on WordPress 4.4.2

Hi Bart,

There’s a missing feature there where they’ll need to either a) add a way to delete a promotion from a transaction (like how you delete the payment) or b) when the registration is deleted, also update the promotion usage count. That’s something that can be added in a future update to the promotions add-on.

In the meantime, you can adjust the number of uses limit, or start with a new promotion (you can even delete the original promotion that was used for testing and make a new promotion to start over with a 0 count).

Just so you know, when you do get to fixing this, when payments fail, and the registration goes into “Payment Pending” status, the Promotion is held. We had an issue this morning with several people trying to register while the Stripe gateway was in test mode. Their registrations went through, but the payments failed. When the Stripe gateway was fixed, they came back and were able to register. But the original registrations were still there with Payment Pending status.

I went ahead and deleted the ‘Payment Pending’ registrations, but since deleting does not release the Promotion, I have had to increase the use count.

One further comment – It would be nice to be able to apply a promotion retroactively. We have 1 member who should have gotten the promotion, but since the count was wrong, he didn’t.

It would be nice to go in through the admin interface and apply that promotion to the transaction – though it might involve a refund/payment.

Similarly to your idea above of being able to remove an applied promotion.

But I would say neither of these are as important as maintaining the count accurately.
