Greetings,

I am running into a bug I think and wanted to run it past you.

I am running into one of the two scenarios below and figured you would know which one it is…

Scenario 1:
I have some cases where a promotion code covers the entire cost of a ticket. The ticket goes into approved status but without a lock icon since no actual payment was applied.

Scenario 2:
I have cases where customers put 50% down towards the registration and they stay in a pending payment status but have a lock icon since payments are applied.

When one of the above two scenarios happen it is not moving the “Sold” quantity up +1 and is leaving the count under “Regs”. This can cause us to oversell spots. Based on your knowledge of the product which of the above two is causing my issue and can this be addressed?

This next item is not a bug but more a feature request. When a promotion code is applied to the registration it is listed under the transaction. This would be nice if it was listed under the payment section and could be edited/deleted like a normal payment item. That and when applied put a lock icon on the registration. In our case, this is the equivalent of paying and we would not want them accidentally deleted and in some cases may need to alter/delete them or apply a different promotion code manually. This would be nice to have as part of the promotion code add on.

Let me know if you have any questions. Thank you.

Hi there,

It’s scenario 2 as the registration is Pending Payment.

It’s the ‘Registration Status’ that determines if a registration applies to the ‘sold’ values, so when registration is ‘Approved’ the sold value is incremented, if it’s changed from Approved to anything else, it is decremented.

So with the above, you stated that they paid 50% of the total, so there are monies owing on the transaction? That’s why EE hasn’t automatically updated the statues to Approved.

So do you want registrations to apply to the ‘sold’ value even if they haven’t completed payment yet? If so you can set the ‘Default Registration Status’ on the event to Approved, which will approve all registrations that finalize the checkout, you’ll then need to monitor this to confirm they’ve paid (you can use the transaction status for that).

This next item is not a bug but more a feature request. When a promotion code is applied to the registration it is listed under the transaction. This would be nice if it was listed under the payment section and could be edited/deleted like a normal payment item. That and when applied put a lock icon on the registration. This would be nice to have as part of the promotion code add on.

I like this idea and will add it to our feature requests, however, a promotion is not a payment and as such is unlikely to be listed under the payments section (I understand how you are using them, but it’s still not a payment although in this case functionally equivalent), so we’ll need to work out some form of UI for this.

I can tell you that we’ve not had many requests for this previously so this unlikely to be something we work on ‘soon’ as we are working on other areas of the plugin with more requests.

Greetings Tony,

Thank you for the clarification around the ticket status. I did forget to mention something about my set up. In the case of this event, which we are using to track exhibitors for a convention, they require approval. Once approved they then go into pending payment and they are allowed to put a deposit down to hold their spot but their spot is approved. Ideally, a feature to add a checkbox that when enabled counts approved registrations towards the sold quantity would be awesome. Rather than move them to approved status and track the payments manually I think it is easier to just set the amount to 0 when I know we have booked all of an exhibitor space type.

Thank you on the feature request for the promotion codes.

Ideally, a feature to add a checkbox that when enabled counts approved registrations towards the sold quantity would be awesome.

Whilst I understand why this may seem like a solution, it’s very unlikely to be something we are going to add as EE relies on Approved registrations applying to sold counts so if we start adding logic to allow for that not to happen it will have a ripple effect throughout the plugin and its add-ons.

What may happen in the future is we introduce another registration status to the system that applies to sold values but also allows the system to differentiate between ‘Approved’ and ‘Pending but included in sold value’ registrations as we’ve had a few requests for this use case. We are working on other areas of the plugin currently so this unlikely to be ‘soon’ but just noting that we do recognise that for some use cases another status could be helpful.

Rather than move them to approved status and track the payments manually I think it is easier to just set the amount to 0 when I know we have booked all of an exhibitor space type.

Sure, you can do it that way, but Approved registrations will do it automatically for you anyway, as your using Pre-Approval and basically consider them Approved (in terms of EE) anyway it seems very similar.

Greetings Tony,

The additional registration status sounds like it could work when you guys get to that someday.

Thank you.
