Wordpress version 3.5.1 Event Espresso: 3.1.32P Add ons: multi event registration, permissions Link: http://mactreasurers.org/mact-event-registration/ When I go to the cart and enter a promo code that I have setup, I get this error: Sorry, promotional code GOLD is invalid, expired, or can not be used for the event(s) you are applying it to. I have read that you have to check the boxes next to the promos but I do not see where to do that in event edit. I have checked them in the promo codes page but that doesn’t seem to do anything. I did select the option to allow discount codes but didn’t see any other options there. Please let me know, Thanks,

When you edit an event, on the right side there’s a box that says Event Promotions, Select the the GOLD in there, also make sure the ” Allow Discount codes” is set to yes. Update event, clear cache, try again. |
Thank for your input, John. JoAnn, also make sure there are no spaces before or after GOLD in the promo code set up. I’ve seen this cause the same problem you are experiencing because the system is expecting the spaces before or after when it is entered on the frontend. |

Thanks for the info guys but the problem is I do see the Event Promotions box on the right hand side but none of my promotions show up there to be checked. I do see the the early reg discount info and the Allow Discount Codes is there and set to yes but no check boxes for my various promotions. There is a link that reads “Manage Promotion Codes” which I have tried as well that just leads me to the promo page. Any thoughts on this or am I missing something more?
Thanks, Danielle |
It sounds like the Roles and Permissions add-on may be installed, and that your user account may be restricted from using the Promo code features. If you do not have an admin level user account, can you check with someone who does and verify whether these restrictions have been set up? If you do have an admin account, you could try deactivating the Roles and Permissions add-on if it’s installed. |

Thanks Josh, I do have that plugin installed and when I disabled I could then see my promotions. I am logged in as administrator so why do you think that is? I would like to be able to use that plugin if possible. Thanks, |

So, I have a work around. When I deactivated the roles I checked the promotions then reactivated roles and now my promos still work so I am all set.
Thanks again, Danielle |

Hi, Sorry to bother again but I thought I had this working. Now the problem is I can get my first promo code, GOLD, to work, but the other 2 I get the same invalid error. Thoughts? I have also tried removing permissions again to no avail
Thanks, |

Ok, figured out that you just can’t switch between promos in the cart. So if I enter GOLD it works, but then when I enter PLATINUM, PLATINUM doesn’t work. But if I first remove the event from cart and re-add and try PLATINUM, it works so I think I am all set…we can work around this. Just wanted to let you know…sorry for all the various messages.

Hi Danielle, You are correct, the cart will only accept one discount code per transaction. It may help to specific this in the event description if you’ll be offering multiple discount codes. |
