Problem with Ticket changing customer name

A customer reports that she bought a ticket for herself in a transaction. After some days she decided to buy another ticket for her sister for the same event. Now the two tickets have the names of her sister, whereas she (of course) needs to have one ticket to her name, and another to her sister’s name.

I would need to know if there is any technical flaw with our ticketing here and if me (as admin) can do something to fix this. Thanks

Hi there,

Are you using the EE4 User Integration add-on on the site?

Was the user logged into their account when they purchased both tickets?

Yes, I’m using EE4 user integration add-on. On the first purchase a new account was created for the user, on the second account the user logged and then bought the ticket.

One of the features of the EE4 User Integration add-on is to sync up your WP user profile and your EE contact data with the details you enter into the registration form.

Meaning if the user registers onto a ticket whilst logged in, changes the details used on the registration form and then continues through the registration, the details will be synced to the profile, and the EE contact. Then the ticket will be assigned to the EE contact meaning both the original ticket and the new ticket appear to have the same name (as they both link to the contact).

You can disable this feature, however the ‘My Events’ section for that user will then not show any tickets that users purchased if they change the registration details used.

Well, at least I know now there is not a technical issue with my registration and ticketing system. However, to my opinion, this is something that should be fixed better soon than later, as registration for users should be one thing, and registration for ticketing should be another, otherwise our customers will complain as they don’t understand why their registration data has been changed. Besides they frequently end up showing you how in other websites they don’t have such issues. Do you have any plan to fix this?

Currently we don’t have a plan to ‘fix’ this as in terms of the code its not broken, the above is expected behavior for the plugin.

You can disable the contact sync feature by navigating to:

Event Espresso -> Registration Form -> User Integration Settings

Find ‘Always sync contact information with WP user profile?’

Set that to No and save the settings.

The users details will no longer be synced with their WP profile, so changes made during registration will not change the users account details.
