Hello,
Just purchased and was going to upgrade to 3.1.30 but I am getting “You have the correct Site License Key for Event Espresso but your current membership access only allows for automatic upgrades on one domain….”. I only have EE installed on one domain!

Hi Peter,

I’m sorry for the trouble. Is your site that has Event Espresso installed running on a single site installation of WordPress or is it part of a multisite WP network?

Hi Josh,
It’s installed on a single site. No multisite.

Hi Peter,

What we can do is reset the key for your site. I’ll reset that right now, and what you can do next is go to Event Espresso>General settings on your site and remove the key there and save. Then you can go to your account page and copy then paste the key from the account page into the key field in Event Espresso>General Settings, then save again.

ok did that. Still getting message at the top.

The new license key is exactly the same as the old license key?

The key should be the same.

Do you have another version of Event Espresso installed (but not active) on this site, perhaps the lite version?

Just checked plugins and there’s just the purchased one. I may have set up another Event Espresso account here at some point with the same domain as I used a demo.

Hi Peter,

I’m not sure if the other account would make that key not work for your site. I chatted with the developer of the Plugin Update Engine about this today and he wondered if it would be possible to get a set of temporary admin credentials to look at the site and investigate.

If that is possible, please send the credentials via this form:

Hi Peter,

Darren look at this for about and hour and could not find anything wrong on your site or our end with your key.

Here is what he reported:

>Since everything appears to be working as expected on his end and our end all I can conclude at this point is that there is something either at the server level or in his WordPress installation that is preventing proper communication with the EE server.

>One possible culprit is the WPMU Dev Dashboard as they also hook into the WordPress update api for their plugin updates. I did try and deactivate that plugin and run EE updates but it still didn’t work. Another potential culprit is W3 Total Cache but I didn’t bother trying to deactivate it and see if that created any problems.

So for now, we can suggest using the manual update method. Which is basically:

1) Back up the database (you probably already did this before trying the automatic update, but if you haven’t already, we always recommend backing up the database before an upgrade.
2) Download Event Espresso from your account page.
3) Deactivate and delete the old Event Espresso from your wp plugins screen
4) Hit “Add New” and upload your new Event Espresso zip file
5) Activate the new Event Espresso.

After we get 3.2 released, Darren is planning on doing a restructure of the automatic update and license key process (3.2 will be serving updates differently)
