Private event link not working

We are creating an event that is by invitation only. I set the event to “private” and the client is going to send out an email with the link. When I log out of my account and go to the url (as a ticket purchaser would), it says that the event is not found. Also, the event shows that it is inactive. Is that why it is not showing? How do I make it active. We want people to be able to buy tickets to this event without the link being open to the general public.

Hi there,

Currently Event Espresso does not have that functionality.

Privately published events are the same as standard ‘private’ WP Posts, logged out users can not view those posts so the above is actually expected.

Note this section:

> Private posts are automatically published but not visible to anyone but those with the appropriate permission levels (Editor or Administrator)
