Hi,

I don’t really understand the private event mode in Event Espresso. If I setup an event in that mode, only I (meaning only website admins) can access it. I don’t see the relevance of that mode.

What I want to do is to setup a public event that will be accessed by the link provided, but I don’t want it to be shown in our calender. The only way I’ve found for it not to show up in the calender is to set it to private mode, but then the link leads to an Error 404 page for public users.

Is there a way to have a public event but not visible in the calendar ?

FYI, I manage our website, but I’m far from being a webmaster. I had one, but he does not answer my emails anymore so I’m kind of stuck with my problem.

Thank you in advance!

Hi there

The ‘private’ status is actually a part of WordPress that EE follows:

https://wordpress.org/support/article/content-visibility/#private-content

Private posts (EE events are ‘posts’ within WordPress) will only show to Editors and Administrators by default. It was intended as a way to allow editors/admins to view posts/edit posts on the site as a user would without them actually being visible to visitors at all.

Is there a way to have a public event but not visible in the calendar ?

By ‘the calendar’ do you mean the calendar view from the calendar add-on, like this:

https://eventespresso.com/product/ee4-events-calendar/

We’ve found people use the term ‘event calendar’ to mean a lot of different types of output so I’m just checking.

Is this just a specific event or is this needed often?

If only for a few events you can use some CSS to hide the event from the frontend, it will still load on the page but your CSS will hide it from view, will that work?
