Hi,
We want to sell tickets in a theater for the first time under Corona conditions. The point now is to be able to assign each ticket to a specific seat. The document https://eventespresso.com/wiki/how-to-set-up-seat-allocation-with-the-ticket-selector/ pretty much hits our situation.
In addition to the registration code, we need the number of the row on the tickets as well as a consecutive number for each ticket sold, e.g. 1/1 for the first ticket sold in row 1, 1/2 for the 2nd ticket sold in row 1, and so on. Can we do this if we buy the Printable Tickets add-on or the Everything Support License?

Thanks!

Hi there,

No, at least not automatically if I understand the question.

So lets you have 4 tickets Row A, B, C, D like in the image from above and I’m the first person to register onto this event. Firstly there’s no way for me to select say A4 (again, note that no-one has registered onto this event yet) because the tickets don’t have ‘seat numbers’ that you could choose from, they are just a ticket type with a qty. In the example from the link row A has 7 spaces so there’s a qty of 7 but you can’t select which seats are purchase, just row A and X number of tickets.

Now, if you want to manually assign seat numbers AFTER the registrations have been added, it is possible to do and also display whatever you assign to the registration on the ticket. Would that work for you?

To do the above you’ll need a custom question and then after each registration, you edit the registration in the admin and assign the seat. You’ll need some text in your event to say that tickets are allocated on a first come first server from left to right os something similar but it’ll give you the ability to assign seats.

Hi Toni,
Thanks for the quick support. I have inserted 2 custom questions “sitzplatz-1-registrierte-person” and “sitzplatz-weiterer_Teilnehmer” in the registration form. I was able to edit the answer field in the admin and assign a seat. But I have problems finding the right shortcode to insert this seat number in the ticket “Lecture 2020 custom”. Can you help again?

Thomas

Sounds like you can use the [RECIPIENT_ANSWER_*{question_text}] shortcode.

That shortcode takes the ‘question test’ value of the question you want to pull the value for, the above strings look like the Question label value which is the wrong string to use but to give an example, if sitzplatz-1-registrierte-person can the Question Text field the shortcode would be:

[RECIPIENT_ANSWER_*sitzplatz-1-registrierte-person]

To output the answer to that question.

Does that help?

If not add the value of the ‘Question Text’ field for the above questions and I’ll give you the shortcodes you can try.

Unfortunately, despite many attempts, it did not work out. Our modified custom question text is: Sie koennen Ihre Sitzplatznummer leider nicht auswaehlen Diese wird Ihnen nach der Buchung zugewiesen

The shortcode i`d tried
[RECIPIENT_ANSWER_Sie koennen Ihre Sitzplatznummer leider nicht auswaehlen Diese wird Ihnen nach der Buchung zugewiesen]
was rejected as invalid

Grr, my apologies! There is a typo in my shortcode above (now fixed) …. it was missing the * after the _

This should work:

[RECIPIENT_ANSWER_*Sie koennen Ihre Sitzplatznummer leider nicht auswaehlen Diese wird Ihnen nach der Buchung zugewiesen]

Ha, it works 🙂 A little star can make a big difference! I’ve tried a lot of things except * thanks again

You’re most welcome and again, sorry I missed that earlier.
