It seems that anyone who registers for an event receives an email to print tickets, but I only want paid registrants to receive an email to print a ticket. How can I customize who receives the email about tickets?

Hi there,

By default, the ticket notice email is only triggered when a registration has its status updated to ‘Approved’, which (again by default) only happens when full payment is made.

Do you have the ‘Default Registration Status’ option on your events set to ‘Approved’?

Have you edited the email templates to add the ticket link to any others template other than the ‘Ticket notice’?

Thx!

Some of my events have a reg status of ‘Approved’ and some have ‘Pending Payment’. Should I set all to ‘Approved’?

I have not edited the email templates to add the ticket link to any other template other than the ‘Ticket notice.’

I don’t think so.

First to clarify, if that setting is set to Approved, then all registrations (regardless of payment) apply to the event, they get automatically switched to Approved when they complete the registrations.

That means they’ll get a valid ticket regardless if they have paid or not.

Most users want ‘Pending Payment’ to be the default registration status (DRS for short), Pending Payment registration automatically switch to Approve when the amount owing is paid (that can be on the initial registration, or returning to pay) and it sounds like the problem your running into currently is your using the DRS of Approved.

Can I ask why you have that set to Approved?

It was a mistake! I have changed it and that corrected the issue. THANK YOU!

Great, I’m glad that fixed it for you.

Just to note, there are actually 2 settings for that setting.

Event Espresso -> Events -> Default Settings.

That sets the default setting for the DRS when creating a new event.

Then in the event editor, you have the Default Registration Status setting for that specific event you are editing.

Make sure the default setting is Pending Payment so any new events will default to that rather than Approved.
