I have the ticketing add on installed but the message type ‘ticket’ is not showing in the admin. I have tried re-installing it with no change. I have deactivated and reactive with no change.

You can go to Event Espresso > Messages > Settings, then select the HTML message type. There you can drag the “Ticket” message type over to the Active Message types box. You’ll find further instructions along with visual aids in the documentation:
