I’ve set up Event Espresso for a client who also accepts paper registration forms. He wants to print out an info sheet for each registrant that he can add to his stack of paper applications and use in the same way. I don’t see a way to do this in the program. Any suggestions on how to set it up? |

No one? |
You’re correct that Event Espresso doesn’t have this capability. It does have the capability to export the attendee list to Excel. Once the attendee list is in an excel document, you could write a macro to create a one page report for each row. See this forum topic for some ideas: http://forums.cnet.com/7723-6129_102-51598/printing-a-row-per-page-in-excel/ |

Thanks for the tip. I feel like I need to say, though, that I can’t believe Event Espresso offers only two ways to view attendees – on the screen in a non-printable format, and in an Excel document, which is not very useful if you have more than 10-12 short data fields (my client has 62, 6 of which are text areas). Let me reiterate that this is for a client who appreciates a small learning curve. I’ve been talking up how much easier his life is going to be when we get Event Espresso installed. Now I have to go explain that he’s going to have to export the list to Excel and run a macro just to get his attendee information in a useable form. He will look at me like I’m speaking Greek. Very disappointing. |
It also sends an email to the admin that includes registration details. Perhaps they would rather print those out? |

|
I suppose that will have to do. Is there a way to resend the notification email to the admin? |
Event Espresso does not have this capability. The admin notification email is fired at the point set in Event Espresso>General settings under Mail settings. |

|
So you can’t print an attendee unless you print out the admin notification email, and you can’t resend the admin notification email in the event that it gets sent to spam, overlooked, or accidentally deleted. This is extremely frustrating. Being able to print an attendee should be a basic function. |

For anyone else who is trying to figure this out, I created a reasonable facsimile of a printable attendee data sheet by creating print-only sections in form_build.php. Then you can use print media CSS to print the stuff you want,

That’s a pretty good tip. Thanks for sharing. Another idea that might be useful would be to set up a gmail or other SMTP email account and install the WP Mail SMTP plugin. If you configure this plugin to send out the email for this site, then you’ll have a record of all the emails sent out viewable from the mail account. |

We have a similar issue, we like a paper copy, and the registration confirmation is nice to have. But when we don;t get it, or something happens, there is no way to get another copy, so I agree it would be nice to be able to resend that or print our own copy out on the admin side. We acutally take any paper apps and enter them in the admin side. We are trying to get away from paper apps, thus why we bought EE. But there are some old-schoolers that like the paper still 🙂 nprivette: how did you set that up and make that run? I’m not that technical and its a great idea. The gmail idea is an option too. Is there any way to edit the Excel output, it’s got way too much stuff it collects. |

Hi culpdesign, If you’re fluent in CSS, it’s easy to set up a print media section of your stylesheet. If you’re not fluent, it’s still not too hard, but will take some trial and error, and a good article (http://coding.smashingmagazine.com/2011/11/24/how-to-set-up-a-print-style-sheet/) to get you started. Yet ANOTHER reason we need to be able to print/send completed registration forms: the people who are registering have to be able to print out the form and send it to their budget office as part of the proof that they attended so they can get reimbursed. So rather than being able to do this automatically (or at all), the organizers have to go through and forward a copy of each registrant’s admin email to that registrant, and then the registrant gets to print out a goofy-looking email to send to their budget office. So. Freaking. Lame. Event Espresso does so many things amazingly well, but dropping the ball on something this simple kind of kills it. The clients are really frustrated and I’m embarrassed that I recommended this program for them. |
Thanks for the feedback. |
