Price Modifier Working with MER…almost!

Just loaded Price Modifier and wanted to see what issues would crop up when using Multi Event Registration. Everything seems to work really well. I did run into an Illegal error message but that was just because I had made my price modifier question “required” and that created the error message on the registration page.

So here is my question / comment: Everything was working beautifully PM + MER but when I completed adding two events to my cart and the registration process, I got a price discount from nowhere. The price discount amount was the same as the price I was modify the event by ($75). Just thought I would share this in case there is a fix / work around. Really hope you support MER with PM soon – this would be a great combination of features.

Thanks,

Shaun

Looking at this more closely, what seems to be happening is that the price modifier on the 2nd event is not being added to the price of that event. For some reason its added as a negative, negative value (no, that’s not a typo) in the discount field. So its trying to subtract -$75, which ends up adding $75 to the price. The odd thing is that the total is actually correct – just the way it displays in summary / shopping cart is not. Hope this helps!

Hi Shaun,

The problem and why it won’t work correctly with MER is the underlying structure.

It would require some re-writing of MER, and the core plugin to make it functional.

The amount of re-writing required means it is unlikely that we will do this in EE3, instead we will be concentrating on making the discounting system in EE4 feature rich and flexible.

Thanks Dean. Makes sense. Does EE4 have any of this functionality built into it to allow for add-on products to event price? For our use case, we not only need to sell a track day event to our customers, we need the ability to sell garage rental and instruction as a package. If there is another way to do this with EE3, other then including price options or even separate events for these two items, please let me know.

Shaun

Hi Shaun,

For EE3 you could create some additional pricing options that include the base price + a certain addon.

base price
base price + addon 1
base price + addon 1 + addon 2

Event Espresso 4 allows you to select multiple tickets at one time:
