Hey,
Am I right in assuming that currently there is no way of preventing a user from booking an event twice as I haven’t seen mention of this functionality anywhere?

Hi,
There isn’t a way to prevent this by default. I’ve heard of someone customising the plugin to disable it but I believe this was for EE3 and requires the WP User Integration addon and requires the user to be logged in (so member only events) – I also do not have any details of the modification.
I came up with a very basic example here (https://gist.github.com/Apina/f11b5ce2db10f7b3bb93) which informs informs logged in users that they have already booked, but does not block them. In theory it could be expanded upon by a developer to block events.
Please note that that code is an example only and is not supported by us, plus it has not been tested on recent versions.
