Have read through your site (but haven’t had a chance to go through your demo yet). We want to migrate away from Eventbrite as it is just too inflexible (and buggy) but have some fairly specific requirements. Can EE4 handle the following?
Thanks in advance.

Hidden tickets that do not appear to the public, (i.e, only Admin can register a person for specific ticket types). Tickets remain hidden until the go-on-sale date is reached. Earlybird discounts that automatically change price at a specific date. Family tickets where one person registers but includes names, ages, etc, of family members and adds the individual names to the list of attendees. Can this be achieved via your Multiple Attendee Registration feature? European spellings, e.g., cheque, finalise. Manual approval when offline payment is received, i.e., attendee is not registered until payment is received (as opposed to Admin Pre-approval). Name badges (on standard sized A4 labels) or an export or name badge details that can be mail-merged in Word? Name badges for selected attendees, e.g., last minute registrations only. Full financial reporting. Is the price for ongoing upgrades and support after the first year the same as the initial price? Is the price for add-ons a one-off cost or do we need to keep paying the same annually for updates and support (or is there an options not to continue support for add-ons after the initial purchase? If your license expires, Event Espresso will continue to function, but you will not receive updates nor continued support. We recommend renewing, as this helps to keep the software in continued development and support.

Thanks Seth. I’ll have a play with the demo at the weekend and see how it will work in practice. In point #4 i asked about the Multiple Attendee Registration but your response referenced the Multi Event Registration add-on? Re point #3, can the Percentage and Dollar Discount Price Modifiers feature be used to provide a pseudo Earlybird discount? Thanks. |

Hi, The Multi Registration addon (currently only for EE3) allows users to register for more than one event at a time, in effect adding multiple events to a cart system. EE4 currently does not have this feature. Users can of course select multiple tickets within an event, but can only register for one event at a time. Regarding Early Bird: EE3 has a basic early bird system built in, allowing you to give a ticket discount up to a certain point in time. It is limited in that only one tier is available (Early discount then normal price). EE4 enables a more flexible early bird system by utilising multiple tickets and the sell from and to dates for the tickets. So you can have a ticket that sells from now until March 1st at $100, then from March 1st it stops selling and another ticket then starts selling from March 1st to March 10 at $80 and you can do this with as many tickets as you like. |
@benz1 I was mistaken on the add-on renewals. A la cart add-on purchases are NOT a one-time purchase and will need to be renewed on a yearly basis, unless the add-ons are part of a bundle. |

Thanks but I was asking if the Multiple Attendee Registration feature, (https://eventespresso.com/features/multiple-attendee-registration/) could be used for Family type tickets? Seems to me that the EE3 approach to Earlybird prices is more logical, rather than having multiple versions of the same ticket type at different prices that appear at different times? |
Hi, Event Espresso currently requires a ticket / pricing option to collect attendee information. For example, you would not be able to collect attendee information for three family members under a single ticket. Each member would need a ticket and this would then be considered a group registration. — |

Lorenzo, in relation to the Family ticket question, Seth responded above that, “You can use the customizable registration forms to accomplish most of this”. Your response seems to contradict this? |
Hi, With EE3 if you select 1 ticket, EE will ask for 1 set of questions. The question groups asked within that set can be customised, and the individual questions within the groups customized. In other words, you can create custom question groups with custom questions and ask for those on registration. So you could achieve a family ticket using custom questions, however if they select 1 ticket and you provide questions for a family of 4. Only 1 ticket sale will be recorded (as that’s all the have selected) The Multiple Attendee Registration feature allows you to add additional attendees (essentially adding another ticket to the registration) it does not allow a single ticket to have multiple registrations. The Multi Event Registration Add-on allows you to add a single event to the cart and you can select different ticket quantities for each ticket type within the event, for example 1 adult, 2 children and 1 student. As you have selected 4 tickets, 4 registrations are recorded, and the questions for the event asked for each ticket. EE4 allows you to set minimum and maximum quantities on the tickets, if you are offering a discount for a family of 4 you can create a ticket that will allow a minimum of 4 people to register. It depends on how exactly you want the family ticket to work, if you can provide further information on how you want the ticket to work we can advise from there. |

This is all getting very confusing. Interesting that you seem to have so many support staff and a different one responds each time? The plugin has obviously come a long way since I first purchased Advanced Events Registration Pro from Seth in 2010! Anyway, let’s forget EE3 – it sounds like it’s at its end of life and as stated on your site, you will stop supporting it in the not too distant future so doesn’t seem to be much point in investing in it? It seems like EE4 is still not a mature product. I’m sure in time when it has been developed to a point where it includes all the EE3 functionality it will be a viable option but there seems to be a gap in your product line at present, especially for users with more advanced requirements? Re the Family ticket, we want to be able to sell a single ticket where the user can specify the names of all family members that are attending the event and for these names to be added individually to the attendee list (and name badges) as opposed to just the purchasers name appearing. We have been unable to do this in Eventbrite and had to manually create individual tickets for family members which is one of the (many) reasons we are looking for an alternative to Eventbrite. I know you can’t possibly add every feature that every user wants as everyone will use the system in different ways. I guess the key is to make it as flexible as possible to cover as many scenarios as you can. I will have a play with the demo site over the weekend and see if we can find workarounds for our requirements where the functionality is not yet available. Thanks. |
Hi, our entire team at Event Espresso contributes to support and our team is distributed across several countries and therefore different timezones. This is why you are seeing responses from different team members. It sounds like you need to collect different information from multiple family members under a single ticket or pricing option. Event Espresso will let you collect custom information in addition to basic information such as name, email, and address. However, a ticket or pricing option will be needed per registrant/attendee (per family member). For example, if you had two adults, then two pricing options (two tickets) would be needed. Hope that clears up any confusion regarding how information is collected. Thanks — |
