I am hoping somebody can help me. I have loaded a theme onto my wordpress site, and loaded the sample data so that I can build from that. I then installed Event Espresso, and parts of the theme no longer work. For instance, the sliders at the top of each page no longer load. When I deactivate EE, the theme works fine, and when I activate EE again, the sliders no longer load.
The weird thing is, I am rebuilding the site at a different shared hosting provider, and the previous site (where I used the same theme as well as EE) worked fine.
Can somebody perhaps offer me some insight into the possible causes? I have a feeling it is some or other setting that has changed, but I cannot for the life of me get it working correctly. The support team at Template Monster (where I purchased the Theme) suggested that it may be a scripting conflict between the theme and the plugin.
Why it is only breaking only when Event Espresso loads I cannot say for certain, but the error is coming from the theme, specifically the custom.js file.
It appears that the developer is trying to use the shorthand version of jQuery which is $ but hasn’t correctly called it. By default WordPress does not use $ so it is seeing the usage of this and breaking.
The code in that file will need to be modified to work correctly with WordPress.
