We are experiencing a very odd and intermittent issue right now, and would appreciate some insight into what is happening.

When a user selects a ticket, they go to the attendee information screen to fill in the information. Randomly, it seems that when the user clicks the next button, the SPCO.payment_amount goes to 0, and the error message back says “Your form data could not be applied to any valid registrations.”

Please help!

Hi,

How are you today?

This could be caused by a couple things. Can you give us a link to the website in question so we can look at it further? Who is your web host?

Possible causes:

– Caching can interrupt the checkout process and can be fixed depending on your website host.
– Waiting too long to checkout. Sometimes if someone waits at one step too long the session can expire and they will need to restart their session again.

Let us know your site address and host so we can look further.

Hi Garth,

A little stressed, but otherwise in good spirits that we can solve this issue!

We host the website ourselves, and are currently working on a test site as not to interfere with the live data. Our test sites are IP blocked, so please send us an IP address that you use so we can add you to the safe list.

As for the possible causes:
– We do not have any caching enabled whatsoever, as we have researched this in your forums and tried to implement the solutions
– The checkout process is instant. We can fill in the form within a minute (while the checkout process allows 1 hour), and it still randomly fails. We have tried it with a load tester, and at times were successful in manually recreating the issue, to which we updated WordPress to the highest level to find that the recreating stopped, but occasionally it happened again.

Talk soon!

Do you have base64 encoding on this server? You’ll need that.

Back up your data before doing the encoding…

After you turn the encoding on, go to Event Espresso > General Settings > Admin options and set Encode Session Data? to Yes, then Save the page.

After you change, you can do a quick test registration and to make sure your server is compatible with encoding session data.

This was also referenced in a prior thread but we did not hear back from you: https://eventespresso.com/topic/proceeding-to-payment-options-issue/#post-229273

Apologies, but we did try upgrading to the newest version of Event Espresso, which unfortunately broke functionality of some of our registration pages, and the encoding switch did not work.

Is there something else we could try?

Thanks in advance!

May I ask what happened that caused you to think the newer version of Event Espresso broke something?

When we upgraded to the newer version of EE, a lot of our tickets that had nothing to do with one of the questions started getting hit with the validation for that question, with no way to proceed.

Hope this helps!

No not really. How is it that you had tickets that had nothing to do with a question?
