I see that PHP 8.0 is now support with EE but I’m looking to find out the timeline for 8.1 support.

Wordpress as of 6.1 is supported
https://ithemes.com/blog/php-7-4-end-of-life/
https://yoast.com/performance-improvements-wordpress-6-1/

PHP 7.4 is end of life (EOL) in a matter of weeks on 11/28/22
https://www.php.net/supported-versions.php

As you know, most Linux distros in 2022 have at least PHP version 8 (Debian, REL and its offspring), if not version 8.1 (Ubuntu 22.04 LTS)

Is there a timeline for 8.1 support?

Hi Joseph,

Generally speaking we’re big proponents of higher versions of PHP. But hosts are not as in favor and usually hold back compatibility. Beyond that there are two important pieces here:

1) Official support by WordPress: https://make.wordpress.org/core/handbook/references/php-compatibility-and-wordpress-versions/. You’ll see that WordPress only supports PHP 8.1 as a Beta status, not officially.
2) Official support by Event Espresso. TBD
