permalink issue

What do i do:
Permalinks: I get the message that: “Event Espresso API cannot work because it appears URL Rewrite is turned off. Please activate it from Settings -> Permalinks, and there select the ‘post name’ option for URLs.”
But when i change that all the links to my other established pages dont work and i get a 404 error. How do i resolve this? Thanks.

Hi Evelyn,

Do you know if you currently hosted on a Windows or Linux based server?

If you are unsure could you link us to the site so we could take a look?
