Pending payment email messages for group registrations

Hi,

I have created a custom payment Registration Pending Payment message, which I am using to send payment reminders, using the method suggested by Tony in this thread: https://eventespresso.com/topic/including-ticket-link-and-event-information-in-newsletter/

I am selecting all of the registrants with payment pending status – because the template is set to send the message to the primary registrant email, will the primary registrant get multiple emails for group bookings? If so, how do I get around this?

Also, I just tried using this method for the second time, and for most registrants an email was sent to my email address (i.e. the email address for the logged in user). I say CCed because I know that one registrant also received the email as I received a reply from him. Any ideas what might be happening here?

Thanks,

Nick

Hi Nick, are you referring to the email that the attendees reply to? That is likely the event author email or the person who created the event.

Are you wanting to switch that to another email such as the one that is set for your organization through WP-admin –> Event Espresso –> General Settings?

I am asking if the payment pending message generated when using the ‘Set Registrations to Payment Pending and Notify’ gets sent to all registrants or only primary registrants.

I am also wondering why I am being copied in to these messages now, when I wasn’t before.

Hi Nick,

When you browse to the pending payment message type in the messages system, you’ll see two contexts:

The event admin notification in blue means that the event admin or event creator will receive a notification when the pending payment notification is used.

The other context that is available would be for the the primary registrant which is the first person on a registration.

OK – thanks – as long as the primary registrants are also getting the payment pending message, that’s fine. So the second part to my question is whether primary registrants get duplicate email messages when all payment pending registrations are selected and I use ‘Set Registrations to Payment Pending and Notify’. I am thinking here about group bookings.

Hi Nick,

No they wont.

But just to be clear your talking about if a user registers say 5 registrants, you select them all and select to notify them with a status of pending paymet right?

If thats the case then no, only the primary registrant will recieve a single message for that group, there is only one primary registrant for a group registration so we group them all and send as one.

Just to note, this changes slightly if you introduce MER but only in specific use cases. So sometimes it may appear there are duplicate emails sent, but on checking the content they are actually unique. (Doesnt apply much to the above but just wanted to note it)

Yes, you understand correctly Tony – glad to hear they won’t be getting duplicate emails.
