PayPal values not translating

I am using EE4 to pass to PayPal Standard/Express for processing and am having two issues:

1. QTY always shows as 1 on the PayPal confirmation even when multiple things have been purchased.
2. Address does not get passed through properly to PayPal and is blank. If I could also edit description to show the Ticket name instead of the “Event Registrations for Company at Event Name”, that would be great.

Is there any way to do this?

Hi Matt,

Before I can answer your questions I need some clarification: Are you using PayPal Standard or PayPal Express? The reason I ask is because these are two different things. Also, if you’re using PayPal Standard it’s recommended to switch over to use PayPal Express.

I am using PayPal Standard. Express is not an option in my version of EE4 and I may need to upgrade.

I believe the Quantity issue is on PayPal’s end.

Can you tell me how to properly pass Address and change Description to remove “Event Registrations for Company Name”?

Hi Matt,

You’l need to update to the current version of EE4 and switch over to PayPal Express in order to change the Description. Once you have PayPal Express set up, you can add one of these code examples to your website:

You can add the above to a functions plugin.

With regards to the address fields, they should automatically be passed to PayPal, but that may not be the case with the older version of the software.

Hi Josh,

When I look at the IPN it says I’m using PayPal Express.

I’ve fixed address and asked PayPal support about Quantity – since it seems to get passed to the Checkout without issue – so probably on them.

My next questions on this, though:
1. How can I pass Base Price and Price Modifiers (used for regional taxes) to PayPal.
2. Some tickets payments get confirmed by PayPal with “Discount —” and “Insurance —” using the Old PayPal design and others come through fine with the new design. Is one Standard and one Express? Is that possible? Is there a reason people are being redirected to one or the other? Finally, is there a reason these variables are even being passed through?

Thanks for your help.

I don’t believe those can be split out into separate line items, but you could create an issue on Github and one of the developers can confirm and possibly get something on the roadmap.

Is one Standard and one Express? Is that possible? Is there a reason people are being redirected to one or the other?

That would only be possible if you had both PayPal Standard and PayPal Express activated on the Event Espresso > Payment Methods page.
