Hi EE Support,

It seems that our clients aren’t returning to the site to complete their transactions. We’ve just recently upgraded to EE4 and are using the Paypal Standard Gateway. Since customers aren’t returning to the site, they are receiving an email (generated through EE) to complete their transaction. Is there anything we can do to make sure they don’t receive this email as it is very confusing.

Also we need to add a message into the section below choosing payment where it says “Important information regarding your payment”. We want to add a message there that says you can use your credit card with Paypal, which template can we edit to add that message? Thank you!

Hi Elizabeth,

I’d recommend switching to the PayPal Express payment method, it uses the same account type as PayPal standard but doesn’t use the IPN’s like standard (so it more reliable).

We have some documentation on setting up PayPal Express here:

Also we need to add a message into the section below choosing payment where it says “Important information regarding your payment”. We want to add a message there that says you can use your credit card with Paypal, which template can we edit to add that message? Thank you!

You don’t need to edit any templates for that as you can change it within the payment method.

The payment methods ‘Description’ field will be shown there – http://take.ms/an7ZpN

Great, thanks for the information. Paypal Express allows checkout directly on the site, correct? So we would need to add an SSL, I know your docs say you recommend it, but I just want to be clear between need & recommend. Thank You.

PayPal Express actually takes the payment information on PayPal.com’s site then returns the customer back to your site after payment. It’s recommended to add SSL anyways though, but not required with PayPal Express.
