Hi again,

My EE is all setup except for PayPal. I just submitted an application for a Business account with PayPal and have to wait for their response.

Once I am approved for my Business Account with PayPal, will EE recognize that I have a Business account? In other words, I want to integrate PayPal onto my web site so that when customers go to “Checkout,” they remain on my web site and are not taken to a separate PayPal screen (ie my WordPress theme doesn’t change etc.).

I’ve already tried going to Payment Settings –> PayPal settings. I’m just not sure if I completed what I needed to do correctly and from that point how do I make my PayPal settings such that customers stay on my web site while paying?

Could you advise me on this matter?

Thanks again!

Pete

Hi Pete,

A business account does not necessarily mean you will have access to onsite payments.

PayPal (normal) is offsite (ie on PayPals site) and can use a Personal or Business account. The business account merely lifts certain limits in place.

To use the onsite payment processing, you will need to use the PayPal Pro gateway and as such have a PayPal Pro account. I believe there is a fee for this. Also you will need an SSL certificate on your site, as most onsite gateways require it, and most customers demand it for security reasons.

Hi Dean,

I wanted to follow up on this thread. I’ve received authorization for PayPal Payments Advanced. Is this enough to run PayPal through my website http://www.jsprep.com. I understand I need an SSL for my web site, but is PayPal Pro the only way I am able to receive this signature, or will PayPal Advanced work?

Please let me know if I need to setup a Pro account for my web site first. Thanks!

Pete

Actually I have another question as well; it occurred to me that PayPal does not necessarily have to be the end all, be all…

Could you personally recommend any other payment setup that I can setup on my website and have it function equally as well or better than PayPal Pro?

I know PayPal charges a 2.9& transaction fee for each online payment transaction; I was wondering if there might be another option out of the many that are listed within the EE Payment Settings list.

Please let me know, thanks!

Pete
