I have a message from PayPal that says:

IPN Verification Postback to HTTPS – Complete by June 2018
– Update Needed: Yes

Is there anything I need to do here, or will it be taken care of by an Event Espresso update?

Hi there,

This isn’t really a fix needed on Event Espresso. If you are using PayPal Standard you’ll need to make sure your site is setup to use HTTPS and I’d advise to just enable HTTPS sitewide.

The above means PayPal are requiring the page that is used to process the IPN’s they send with PayPal Standard must load over HTTPS. EE can’t set that up on your site, you need your site to load over HTTPS, EE uses whichever protocol your site is set to use.

Ah ok. I was a little confused because the site in question is already using HTTPS sitewide (has been since day 1) and it sounds as though PayPal thinks something still needs to be updated.

So if HTTPS is enabled site wide, then we’re good. I guess the PayPal email is just misleading.

Thanks for the quick reply.

You can install this plugin on your site to help verify whether it’s ready for PayPal’s requirements:
