When checking out, we have many customers who receive an error. This is often because their primary address they enter is automatically replicated by the payment gateway and used to fill in the billing address, and then the ZIP code is not associated with the card they use. It is a frequent issue, and when they enter the wrong ZIP code, the error message that shows up doesn’t explain what is wrong.

Is there a way to 1) not let all the information auto-fill into the billing address categories and/or 2) customize the error message to inform the user checking out that their ZIP code in the billing address section doesn’t match the ZIP code associated with the credit card?

Hi Robert,

I can’t see a way to disable the auto-fill currently, however I will check will check with the developers on this as there is likely a way to prevent it.

2) customize the error message to inform the user checking out that their ZIP code in the billing address section doesn’t match the ZIP code associated with the credit card?

The error message displayed is usually the error message sent back from the payment provider which is then passed directly to the page. What error message do you see when this happens?

If you look within a transaction:

Event Espresso -> Registrations -> {click on registration this happened on} -> View Transaction.

You should see a ‘gateway response’ field for the payment they attempted, what does it show there?
