PayPal Pro not working after transferring to new web host

Event Espresso 4.10.11.p
WP version 5.2.11

We just transferred to a new webhost. PayPal Pro transactions worked fine before transfer.

After entering credit card info and pressing the “Proceed to finalize Registration” button I get the message “The registration step could not be completed. Please refresh the page and try again”.

The full registration info is being recorded ok in EE4 as an abandoned registration with Pending Payment so at least know that is working. I have checked our PayPal account and the transactions are not being processed.

I don’t know where to start looking or what questions I should ask the new webhost WHC.CA so any help is appreciated.

Hi there,

The error you’ve posted usually means there is a fatal error being thrown on the server, that should add a log entry to your servers error log.

Your host will usually have a section in your control panel to view the error logs or if you have FTP access there will usually be a file named something like error_log.

Can you check for any errors from Event Espresso around the time the above notice was shown on the site and post it here please?

The web host has done thw following while trying to troubleshoot:

“I have doubled the max PHP execution time. While reviewing EE API errors this was the recommended step.”

They have also increased PHP resources but I still get the same error and PayPal Pro is not being processed.

I have checked the API credentials are current and correct. I also deactivated/activated the PayPal Pro payment method.

Thank you so much for the response. I have managed to get PayPal payments working again ๐Ÿ™‚

I originally tried deactivating the PayPal payments within Espresso and then reactivating (the previous API credentials were still there) and that didn’t work. However, it seems when the API credentials were re-entered into the Paypal settings form PayPal now works (even though credentials were unchanged)! So we’re back up and running now ๐Ÿ™‚
