Paypal Payments Pro works, except AMEX – Card declined, Error 10558

Hello!

Everything is working fine aside from accepting AMEX cards for payments. The plugin is set up to allow all card types on the Payment Settings page, and Visa, Mastercard, and Discovery all seem to work. I can’t seem to find any information on Error 10558. Can someone point me in the right direction?

Here’s what the plugin provides:
Attention: your transaction was declined for the following reason(s):
Error Code: 10558
Short Message: Currency Not Supported for Card Type.
Short Message: Your processor is unable to process the Card Type in the currency requested. Please try another card type.
Severity Code: Error

Hello,

What currency is being used here? It may be an odd question, but how long have you had your Paypal account? There was something a couple of years ago that if you didnt respond to them re American Express it stopped working for you.

Hi Dean,

Currency is Canadian Dollars…the PayPal account was set up in May 2012 so only a few months ago.

Have you been approved to accept Amex? In my experience, I have had to get approved to accept Amex credit cards. You should probably bring the issue up with PayPal support.

I found a couple of threads on the internet that say Amex and Discover cards are not accepted from PayPal Payments Pro in Canada.
