Hello, for some reason completed payments for events are not marked as complete on backend. Recently upgraded to EE version 4. I’ve been trying to fix but still not marked as complete. Please help asap!

Hi,

It appears that both Event Espresso 3 and Event Espresso 4 are activated. The forms match Event Espresso 3 forms. So what you could do is deactivate EE4. If you need the current version of EE3 we can get you a copy of the current version to download.

I would like to keep EE4. What is fix for not having Paypal marked as complete on backend? People are completing payments but it shows as incomplete.

There appears to be a bit more going on there with that site: The site isn’t using Event Espresso 4 for event registration. It’s using an EE3 registration form. So the fix will be to use EE4 instead of EE3.

I just have EE4 active on backend and installed. How would I convert the forms to EE4? Or, if I keep EE3, how can I fix this paypal issue?

It actually looks like someone modified your site’s copy of Event Espresso 3 and changed its version number to 4.10.0.p. It wouldn’t actually be possible to have EE4 active on the backend and have EE3 activated at the same time.

Here’s the guide that shows how to migrate to Event Espresso 4:

https://eventespresso.com/wiki/how-to-upgrade-event-espresso/#migrate-to-event-espresso-4

With regards to PayPal with EE3, if your PayPal account does not have IPN activated, you go into your PayPal account and activate the IPN setting.

What other settings on EE will enable/fix this issue?

…of payments not being marked as completed on EE, even though they were on Paypal

So the first step we would advise you take is to make sure you are running the latest version of EE3, however we don’t really have any idea what version of EE3 you are using as someone has modified the version number to make it look like you are running EE4.

Next we would advise you work through the troubleshooting steps here:

https://eventespresso.com/wiki/how-to-set-up-paypal-ipn/

Confirm IPN’s are still enabled on your PayPal account (PayPal will turn them off if you start having issues with your IPN’s not receiving the correct response headers).

Confirm your Transactions page is set up correctly with the correct shortcode, for EE3 thats [ESPRESSO_TXN_PAGE] and that it is set as the Notify URL in Event Espresso -> General Settings -> Page settings.

For the PayPal IPN, what would be the notification URL?

marjorieevents

Paypal says, “PayPal sends IPN messages to the URL that you specify below.”

I tried example URL – https://marjoriebrookseminars. com/transactions/ and it says ID not supplied.

The transactions page should actually say ID not supplied if you visit that page directly in a browser. The page is only intended to “listen” for IPN requests from PayPal, and PayPal provides an ID.

So for your site:
https://marjoriebrookseminars.com/transactions/
is the correct URL to specify to PayPal for the notification URL.

See here – https://marjoriebrookseminars. com/events-lectures/
It says, “No public events currently scheduled. If you’re interested in hosting an event, please email me.”

How do we reverse this and show events?

Hi there,

That appears to be something custom from your developer so you would need to contact them for this, we have no idea how that function works.

ok, but how can we ensure events are being shown? I don’t think developer did this. Please clarify and provide suggestions. Thanks!

Hi,

If you go in to edit the page https://marjoriebrookseminars.com/events-lectures/, can you see a shortcode in the page content? If so, may I ask what is the shortcode? An example of a shortcode would be something like:
[EVENT_LIST]

As an aside, you do have events listed on this page:
https://marjoriebrookseminars.com/events/event-details/

Works fine now

I’m sure the IPN is enabled on Paypal, yet EE is still not showing as payment completed. See screenshot: https://ibb.co/vkkGkKq It’s supposed to show green check mark/completed, correct? What do you suggest at this point? I simply want it to be marked as complete on backend of EE after someone pays. This is far too complicated for something so basic.

If you refresh the page after a few seconds, does the green check mark appear? The PayPal IPN can take a moment to arrive.
