Hello All! I have read all of the posts about PayPal accepting credit card payments. I have verified that our PayPal optional settings are “on” as shown here: https://eventespresso.com/forums/2010/10/paypal-optional-setting/ In fact, when we use PayPal in all other contexts we are not having this issue, it is specifically just with Event Espresso. Here is the link to our registration: http://www.rw360.org/event-registration/ We already talked with PayPal on the phone. They gave us this embed code for a PayPal button that includes a credit card option. <form action=”https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr” method=”post” target=”_top”><input type=”hidden” name=”cmd” value=”_s-xclick” /> Any help on this? Thanks! Jenna |
Hi Jenna, The PayPal button code that Event Espresso automatically generates will allow paying by credit card as long as the purchaser isn’t already logged into their PayPal account *and* the Seller account has the “PayPal Account Optional” setting On. This is how I have it set up on my site and it looks like this when I check out on PayPal while not logged in: I took a few minutes a ran a few test registrations on your site to check the PayPal button it generates (you can delete the test registrations) and the button code looks in order. Can you double-check that the PayPal optional account setting is set to yes for the PayPal account that is set up to collect payments for events? |

Thanks for your response. I double checked both. PayPal optional account setting is “yes” and PayPal is set up to collect payments. What would it generate a credit card options for your site and not this site? Jenna |
Hi Jenna, The Event Espresso PayPal button code is the same on my site as it is on your site, so it could be a difference between your PayPal account and my PayPal account. There are some requirements the PayPal will enforce related to the email address that’s linked to the PayPal account: Or it could be an issue that PayPal can fix as this PayPal thread suggests: In an attempt to narrow down the issue I tried testing this out a few ways on two different PayPal accounts (one sandbox and one live account) and the *only* way I can get it to say “Create a PayPal account” instead of “Don’t have a PayPal account?” is by Setting “PayPal Account Optional” to Off. You could check your PayPal account and verify that the email address you use to log into PayPal.com is verified and that the email address entered in Event Espresso>Payment settings matches your your verified Email address. |

Thank you so much for your time! Your last paragraph helped us figure it out. There was a little typo in the PayPal account email address. My fault! Checked it at least 10 times before we caught the error. THANK YOU for your persistence in helping out. Working like a charm now. =) |
