Paypal link on Invoice

Hello,
I recently purchased the Price Modifier Plugin for Event Espresso. The plugin will not work for $0.00 events. Which is something I need to have. What is the best way to have the invoice sent to the attendee with a link on that same email to Paypal so that they can pay the remaining balance for those specific add-on items?

Thanks!

Hi there,

With 0.00 priced tickets the email the user will receive is the Registration Approved email, which is the same email sent whenever a registration is set to Approved (which happens automatically when a payment equal to the total amount owing has been made).

You can add a link to that email but as it’s sent to all Approved registrations you’ll need to word it in a way that it doesn’t make users think they still need to pay, for example:

‘If you haven’t done so already, you can click here to pay your remaining balance’

Will that work for you? I’ll provide details on how to edit the template if so.

You can’t a link directly to PayPal within the email as the Single Page Checkout Process handles generating that link, you don’t have access to it within the email, but you can link them to the ‘Payment Options’ step of the checkout so they can select a payment method and complete.

Another option is to manually trigger the payment reminder email which already has a link to the payment options step.

I will try this method, how and where do I add the link for this option? Also, where do I add the text to clarify what I want them to do?

In case I need a backup option, where do I manually trigger?
Thanks!

Go to Event Espresso -> Messages -> Default Message Template -> Registration Approved -> Edit Registrant.

In the ‘Main Content’ section you can add whatever you prefer, for example under the ‘Here’s a copy of your registration details!’ text you could have:

If you haven’t done so already, you can click HERE to pay your remaining balance

You’ll need to add the above in Text mode (the tab on the top right of the editor)

Or, you can add the [PAYMENT_LINK_IF_NEEDED_*] on the template, that parses to:

You can make a payment here ».

If payment is needed on the transaction.

In case I need a backup option, where do I manually trigger?

Go to Event Espresso -> Registrations.

Find the registration in question and click on the ‘TXN Date’ for it, that will take you to the EE transaction. There you’ll see a ‘Send Payment Reminder’ button, click that.
