We just received an email from Paypal where they are upgrading their IPN to SHA-256. I am not 100% sure if I am asking the right question, but with EE4, will this be affected or is EE4 already compatible and nothing has to be updated based on their changes for payments with Paypal via EE4?

Hi Robert,

Thanks for getting in touch. No changes will need to be made from your end and your website will be able to continue receiving payments via PayPal.

Thanks

Lorenzo

Lorenzo, we’re still on EE3, I checked with our host and we are on SHA-256 compliant servers, is there anything else we need to do either in our WordPress or Paypal account or EE3?

You can also do a test with a PayPal sandbox account to verify that the upcoming changes from PayPal will be compatible with your server. This is because PayPal sandbox has already rolled out the changes.

So we don’t need to do anything with EE3, everything there will be fine? I’ve already checked and we are on a compliant server.

We tested Event Espresso 3 against PayPal Sandbox on our testing servers and it works as expected. The best way to verify that your server is compatible is to also run a test against PayPal Sandbox using your server.
