After completing a registration when I view attendees in the admin section I see PayPal as the payment type but status is still incomplete.
I think it is similar to the situation in this post
https://eventespresso.com/topic/incomplete-payment-status-on-attendee-admin-area-only/#post-18983
but I can’t ready it because it is in the ticketing forum.
BTW I have loaded the txn page template.

Additional info:
I turned on the full logging.
I see this error in the paypal.ipn_results.log file
Errors resulting from the execution of curl transfer: [10/10/2012 12:29 PM] – FAIL: IPN Validation Failed . /cgi-bin/webscr : http://www.sandbox.paypal.com

Hi there,
Is there any more output in the log after the link the sandbox URL? There should be a message after a line that reads:
IPN Response from gateway Server:
If not, the server may not be configured to allow outgoing connections for cURL. You can check with your host to see if that’s the case.
I also moved the above-linked forum thread out of the ticketing forum and into the general support forum so you can read through that now.

That line is there but nothing comes after that.
And I can tell you that I do not allow the execution of cURL from php.

I enabled curl_exec for the domain running event espresso and it works now.
