Hi,

We recently received this message from PayPal. Can you please review and advise?

Thank you,
Brandon

Hello Brandon Gannon ,

Please check your server that handles PayPal Instant Payment Notifications (IPN). IPNs sent to the following URL(s) are failing:

https://lacphoto.org/transactions/?e_reg_url_link=1-4bdb3ef98a74f4bd626dce4d0f5dae96&ee_payment_method=paypal_standard

If you do not recognize this URL, you may be using a service provider that is using IPN on your behalf. Please contact your service provider with the above information. If this problem continues, IPNs may be disabled for your account.

Thank you for your prompt attention to this issue.

Thanks,

PayPal

Hi there,

You’ll get that message if PayPal’s server don’t receive a response from the above page when they post the IPN to it, however your page is loading fine so unless your host is blocking the connection it should be working as is, however….

The PayPal Standard payment method has now been deprecated for a while in favour of PayPal Express as we found IPN’s to be too unreliable for most users (like the issue at hand). So rather than trying to work through trying to fix what is now a deprecated issue I’d recommend switching over to use PayPal Express (which is included within EE core).

You don’t need a different PayPal account type but you do need different credentials from your account and we have some documentation on finding those here:

https://eventespresso.com/wiki/paypal-express-payment-gateway/#locate

Enable PayPal Express in Event Espresso -> Payment methods, use the correct details request there and then disable PayPal Standard to prevent issues like these in the future.

Got it, thank you. I’ll get to work on this as instructed. Appreciate the quick reply!

Please do let us know if you run into any problems, as mentioned it’s a little different than setting up PayPal standard so if there is anything you can’t find or are unsure of just let us know.
