I am having trouble on the redirect from a paid paypal sandbox back to my site. Payment status is showing as incomplete. I found this page, but don’t know where to upload the .php page too. This site was receiving the fake transactions and now it isn’t. Do you have any pointers?enter image description here

Hi Andy,

The template is a page template so it needs to go in your Theme folder and the Transactions page needs to have that template selected and saved.

This page template gets added to your theme and selected as the page
template for that page in the Templates dropdown.

Thanks Dean. I did this and it didn’t solve the issue. It’s still coming back to Thank You screen with incomplete payment. The Sandbox paypal account is being reduced by the event price. Any other ideas?

Hi Andy,

Here’s a few things to check on the PayPal Sandbox account side:

Payment review: should be disabled.
Instant Payment notification: should be enabled.

Then on your server, you can check for errors in the paypal ipn error log located in /wp-content/uploads/espresso/logs.

There may be an issue with the PayPal sandbox’s IPN not being able to reach your site, which may even be something on the sandbox end. I’ve been testing it and noticed it’s been running slower than usual lately.

Thanks Josh. Payment review is disabled.

1) How do I make sure that Instant Payment notification is enabled?
2) What error message should I be looking for in the logs folder?

Hi Andy,

You’ll need to log into the business test account by selecting the sandbox account from the Test Accounts page and click the button that is labeled Enter Sandbox Test Site. After entering the credentials for that account, the IPN settings page can be navigated to by going to Profile > Selling Preferences > Instant Payment Notification Preferences.

Any error messages. Typically something like IPN failed. If there isn’t any IPN messages, that means the IPN isn’t reaching your site.

Josh,

I checked to see if my site could receive the IPN’s and it can. The test paypal transactions were working and now they’re not connecting. For both accounts, I used Paypal’s preconfigured accounts. Any other ideas?

Hi Andy,

That is the IPN simulator. Did you check to see if the IPN is enabled for the preconfigured account? You’ll need to log in to the test account in order to view that setting.

Josh, I uninstalled everything and added uploaded them back. Paypal works now. Thanks for your help.
