Until recently our users have always been able to use guest checkout, but that has changed for many of them. We have Paypal Express chosen in Event Espresso payment methods. If we change to Paypal Pro and connect it in Payment Methods, will we be able to use guest checkout again? FYI, within Paypal, we have Paypal Account Optional turned on. I have read Paypal’s documentation about reasons why some buyers may not have guest checkout, but this is a sudden change affecting almost all of our customers starting in the last 2-3 days. Any insight would be helpful? |

Hi there, The PayPal guest checkout option basically allows Event Espresso to tell PayPal if you (the site admin) would like the possibility of Guest Checkout to be shown, its entirely up to PayPal if they show it or not from there. They assess the requests based on your account and multiple other risk factors they take into consideration (of which only PayPal know the details of) and then determine if the guest checkout option should be displayed or not. If this worked previously and then all of sudden within the last 2-3 days stopped without changes to Event Espresso, then it’s likely something on PayPal’s side has determined checkout should no longer be displayed. Unfortunately, I can’t tell you what that is because it’s PayPal’s servers.
No, it’s a different payment method integration and is ON-site, so the user enters their details on your site and it’s sent to PayPal. Note that switching to PayPal Pro requires a WebSite Payments Pro account with them and significantly increases your PCI compliance requirements. The only other recommendation I can give you is to try another payment method such as Stripe which doesn’t require an account, you could then leave both PayPal Express and Stripe enabled to work with both. |

Thank you. |

Does Event Espresso allow for using Paypal’s advanced credit and debit payment product where a form is created in Paypal and then added to a plugin’s registration process? Here’s the link to the product. |

Several PayPal integrations work that way. PayPal Checkout (PayPal Commerce), which you link their documentation, will be available in EE5, and will replace all other PayPal integrations. |

When will EE5 be available? |

“soon”, as in hopefully in the next 30 days or so. |

Thanks |
