Wordpress 3.8 – Event Espresso 3.1.36.1.P
We use PayPal Pro for our payment Gateway. Paypal offers Paypal Gift Certificates which can be displayed as buttons: https://www.paypal.com/us/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_giftcard-intro-outside
When our customers go to register for an event through our website, they are taken to the Payment Overview Page and presented with the “Pay by Credit Card” image under Choose a Payment Option. The convenient thing is Event Espresso’s Paypal Pro Gateway allows them to use a credit card without leaving our site. Unfortunately, it does not look like they can use the Paypal Gift Certificate.
Any way to allow them to use the Paypal Gift Certificate while still utilizing the Paypal Pro Gateway?

Hi David,
Kind of looks like that is only a feature available using PayPal Standard. So you may have to use the PayPal Standard payment option alongside the PayPal Pro option.
I hope that makes sense. Just not sure if that helps with this particular scenario.

Okay…so I need to use Paypal along side Paypal Pro to accept Paypal Gift Certificates. Not elegant, but it is a solution to offer and accept Gift Certificates. Now, I need to prompt gift certificate users to choose “Paypal” instead of “Pay with Credit Card”. Can you please guide me through adding text to “Please Choose a Payment Option”? I will need to add something to the effect of “Note: Please Choose Paypal Option to Redeem a Gift Certificate. You will still be able to Pay any remaining balance with a credit card.” Possible?

Hi David,
The main way to do this would be to edit one of the template files to add in the desired text.
I would suggest copying event-espresso/templates/payment_page.php to your wp-content/uploads/espresso/templates directory.
Then edit the file at around line 58, just after the “Your Registration ID” code block and add in your text there. You will end up with something like http://d.pr/i/Dg31
