I’m desperately trying to get paypal resolved. The process of taking $5 off me for VIP with paypal was a delight, but that’s exactly the type of experience that I am trying to get. The error after a successful payment through paypal is – “Information from this secure page will be submitted to a page that is not secure on http://www.societyofanaesthetistsinradiology.org. Submitting sensitive information is strongly discouraged.” These are requirement results PHP Your version 5.2.6-1+lenny13 PASS PHP memory 64M PASS Max Upload Size 32M PASS Current PHP memory usage 37.37 MB PHP Info View your server configuration details. I’m using the special ‘TXN’ Template on the transactions page. Hi there,

Issues with the PayPal gateway can usually be resolved by working through the checklist we’ve prepared in this guide:
https://eventespresso.com/wiki/troubleshooting-event-espresso/#gateways

To address the insecure content error, you can install an SSL certificate on your domain. Please check with your hosting provider on how to obtain this. Once you have an SSL certification installed, you can set the PayPal gateway setting in Event Espresso>Payment settings>Paypal to Force HTTPS on Return URL.

Hi Josh,

Are you saying that even though I’m only on Paypal Standard, and the transaction is done within Paypal, which doesn’t require an SSL. I am still going to need an SSL for the transaction to complete?

Thanks.

Hi there,

You do not need an SSL certificate for the transaction to complete. You will need an SSL certificate in order to address the “Information from this secure page will be submitted to a page that is not secure on http://www.societyofanaesthetistsinradiology.org. Submitting sensitive information is strongly discouraged.” error.

Thanks Josh,

So if I get an SSL certificate, can it be a shared one? And can it cover the whole domain?
e.g.
Secure address

https://www-ssl.com/societyofanaesthetistsinradiology.org/

Maps to
http://www.societyofanaesthetistsinradiology.org/

Do I just then make the ‘thank you’ page with the SSL Ticked?

From what I remember, it cannot be a shared certificate.

You can get a free SSL certificate from startssl.com

Once that’s installed, you can set the return URL to force HTTPs from the PayPal settings in Event Espresso>Payment settings.

Thanks Josh,

I’ve got my SSL certificate from startssl.com, how do I get it onto the server, or more to the point, where is the best place for the certificate to be?
Hopefully, I can then redo the paypal testing, and get it right this week.

It will depend on which type of server you are running. More than likely you have an apache web server, and StartSSL has documentation for that here:
http://www.startssl.com/?app=20

You might find the CPanel instructions helpful too:
http://www.startssl.com/?app=29

It appears that my host had difficulty adding the free SSL certificate to my domain, so no surprise as they managed to get me to pay £60 to get one fitted.

I’m still no further forward, and have added in more detail on my other thread.
