Hello EEPeeps!
Noticed within the last couple days that users on Chrome are unable to see the checkout without a paypal account. On Firefox the user can see credit card checkout fine. Haven’t checked other browsers yet. I’ve checked out paypal web payment options and they are set to allow payments without account. Any ideas?

Hi,

What’s actually happening there is PayPal will add a cookie to whichever browser you use to log in to PayPal.com. Then, they check for that cookie when you go to checkout. So if there’s a cookie, then they’ll omit the guest checkout option because they’ve tracked that cookie that indicates you do have a PayPal account.

So if you log in to PayPal.com using Firefox you’ll find the same behavior using Firefox. Conversely, if you use Chrome’s “incognito mode” (open an incognito window) you’ll see the guest checkout option. The other workaround would be to go into the browser’s privacy settings and delete any cookies from PayPal.com.

Thank you, Josh. I’ve sent a message to PayPal. I assume there’s no good way to clear the cookie with EE.

Not with EE, but you can clear your own browser cookies:
