Payments not registering – PayPal

We have registrations open for several moderate size events (600 people each) and over the last few days have noticed a payment issue. It appears that people are successfully registering and paying immediately via PayPal, but their payment is still showing as “incomplete” in the Event Espresso system. The issue seemed to be grouped around a few specific dates.

I originally thought the users might be leaving the registration form and then paying via PayPal at a later time, but ruled this out as the PayPal invoice emails include the correct registration # tied to the Event Espresso registration.

Please let me know what other info might be helpful to you in diagnosing the issue. Thanks!

Hi Jonathan,

Were the dates between January 27-29? If so, PayPal’s Instant Payment Notification system was down. They have since fixed it, and reported that they were sending out the missing IPNs yesterday. If the dates match and things are working now, but you never got the missing IPN’s, I’d suggest filing a ticket with PayPal as they instruct here:

If you’ve been having the issue for longer than that, I’d recommend checking the version number of the add-ons installed and make sure that everything is up to date. You can get all the latest add-ons from your account page and compare the version numbers on your WP plugin admin page.
